Metro Hardware was acquired in 1985 by Fred Fiore and in the almost four decades since then our business has thrived through the ever changing landscape of the Perth hardware and Perth building supplies industry. Why? Because we pride ourselves on providing every customer, regardless of the size of their account, with a level of service that we believe is second-to-none. It’s also about providing the right advice to our customers.
Advice that’s based on years of experience, product knowledge and a clear understanding of what’s the best solution for builders, tradespeople and home handy person.
Greg Purdue started at our Balcatta store back in 1987 and Michael Fiore joined Greg the following year – and together they have been the backbone of the Metro Hardware business for well over 30 years. In 1992, Michael and Greg opened the second Metro Hardware store in Joondalup and that business has continued to service and support the hardware industry in and around the City of Joondalup and in all areas north of the City.
The two continue to work together as a dynamic team, with Michael managing the Balcatta store and Greg managing the Joondalup store.
Of note, Fred Fiore retired in 2016 after 31 years of service to the Western Australian hardware, building and trades industry.
Today, while our range of products has changed to meet the needs of our customers, a couple of things remain exactly as it was when Fred took over the business: we’re independent, we’re locally owned and we’ll get you what you want when you want it so you can get back to doing what you do best.
